The Wakefield Mill commemorated its 10th year of operation by expanding its facility and erecting a new building which is set to become becoming the first LEED-registered hotel in the National Capital Region.

Named the "Eco River Lodge", the new building features a passive solar design with a nearly all-glass south facing two-storey facade. The ultra-insulated building will be heated and cooled with a half-mile of underground geothermal piping. It will also feature an organic green roof over the conference facilities.

MHPM acted as the LEED Consultant for this $3-million expansion project which includes 13 new guest rooms, new conference facilities, a second restaurant , an electric vehicle charging station, an outdoor swimming pool and a small group spa area.
