Constructability Review
The constructability review evaluates the site, existing conditions and project design and drawings to ensure that the project is buildable at a reasonable cost, within a reasonable time. It involves review of design drawings and specifications at the 30% to 60% complete stages by independent experienced construction professionals.
MHPM offers systematic independent review by experienced construction professionals who are respectful of design efforts but offer construction expertise in a creative and positive manner. Our constructability report will identify ways the design can be improved to reduce risk and unnecessary complexity, and identify features that will be unnecessarily difficult or impossible to build as designed.
This simplifies the tendering process and allows owners to make design modifications when it is least costly to do so, without detriment to project quality. An added benefit of the constructability review is that it gets all the design and construction professionals around the table to participate in project planning and contract development. This fair sharing of risk in construction contracts leads to lower overall project costs.
When constructability reviews are not carried out, facility construction runs higher risks of technical failure and delays, and increased costs due to rework and redesign. Would your project benefit from a constructability review? Please contact the MHPM regional office closest to you to find out more.
