Value Engineering Analysis
Given the same set of drawings, there are many ways to approach the planning, construction and commissioning of a project – but not all methods yield the same return on the owner’s investment. Some projects consume more money, time and human energy than they should. MHPM offers extensive value engineering exercises and workshops to avoid this outcome.
Value engineering is the rigorous process of studying and questioning a project from first principles to identify cost savings that could be achieved by substituting alternate materials or methodology, while preserving the scope of work and quality. Not doing a value engineering review results in missed opportunities for increasing project value. These deficiencies could then be propagated in related projects, thereby compounding the misuse of the owner’s resources.
Effective value analysis is frequently self-funding. For example, MHPM’s value analysis for a technical college facility delivered over $3,000,000 of construction and life cycle cost savings within a $14,000,000 budget – without any sacrifice of quality or performance.
